Magic and Monsters come to Croydon!

Christian Ainley, author of teen fantasy novel The Enchanted Amulet, will be doing a series of book signings in Croydon. The events will take place in W.H.Smith and Waterstones, in the Whitgift Centre. The book, which was recently featured in the Croydon Advertiser (18/09/2009), Coulsdon & Purley Advertiser (24/07/2009) and South Croydon Guardian (29/07/2009), is now stocked in many online booksellers and bookshops across the UK and US. Christian has also entered it in The National Best Book Awards 2009, in two categories, and is now planning on stocking school libraries.

Apart from a deep love of writing, Christian’s principal motivation for writing the book was to encourage children to read. But he also wanted to help promote authors in Croydon. “This town is famous for its footballers, models, musicians and comedians, but sadly not for pioneers in other creative sectors. Hopefully, my book will help inspire a new generation of authors!” 

Christian is the Curriculum Leader for critical thinking at Riddlesdown Collegiate. He is also responsible for the theory of knowledge component of the International Baccalaureate, and teaches science and psychology. He has previously written two non-fiction titles and a science fiction shooting script, using a pseudonym, and operates a writer’s website at www.christianainley.com.

The book signings will be held at W.H.Smith, Whitgift Centre, Croydon, on Saturday 19th September, from 11am-4pm; and Waterstones, Whitgift Centre, Croydon, on Saturday 26th September, from 11am-4pm.
